The legendary nine-tailed fox (or as it is called in Japanese Kyuubi 九尾( " nine tails " ? ) ) attacked the village of Konoha , killing many of its residents and wreaking havoc on its land . Minato Namikaze , used a technique to seal the kyuubi in the body of a newborn son, Naruto Uzumaki .In return, the Hokage sacrificed his life. The people of the village saw the Fourth Hokage as a hero for his self-sacrifice. The people of the village did not want to mix with the boy because he always reminded them of the fox that was the cause of their sadness and the ruin of their land one day. The current Third Hokage has decreed that no one else (including Naruto, who doesn't know about the fox inside him) ever talks about the Kyuubi attack.
